To exceed our customer's expectations by providing products for the table and the home that inspire love, joy, hospitality, and the creative spirit through exceptional quality and design. She served as the Creative Director for Southern Living at Home from 2005 to 2010 designing products for the tableware and decorative accessories.. ...(the last part that says "and speaking to thousands of consultants and their customers across the country" should be taken out because it doesn't flow)
Her famous pre-school works of art came about after coloring her entire bedroom in crayons, and then using her father’s shaving cream for clouds. While her parents were not amused, it wouldn’t be too long afterwards before they realized the creativity Gail had.
Soon Gail was off to college at the University of Mississippi, getting her degree in elementary education. When asked why she wanted to choose elementary education as her degree, she promptly quips “It was the only thing I could find that didn’t involve algebra.” She graduated in three years, so that she could return and marry her high school sweetheart, John Pittman. They have been married for 39 years.
Color makes me smile, it inspires me, and for this reason I paint designs that make my heart sing! It can either be because of the color combination or because of the thought or glimpse that the Spirit gives me. Every design or item is created with the purpose of enhancing the home, encouraging hospitality, ...which in my opinion is a great blessing and source of love and joy. To create an atmosphere of casual elegance for everyday life for your "family" is more important than entertaining royalty, because "family" consists of the most important people in your life. The family that shares time around the table each evening over a meal is less likely to suffer the effects of stress and evil of today's society. I do not aspire to create items that serve no purpose, but generally want to create items that have more than one function. Flexibility in both color and use are essential and inspire every creation I share
What Gail loves most!
Gail taught school for the Jackson Public School systems for 5 years before making the decision to stay home and raise her two children Sonny and Natalie Gail.” While the joys of parenting became a full time job, it did allow her flexible time to explore her creativity once again. She began creating hand painted dinnerware, and soon Gail Pittman, Inc. was off and running. “I remember sitting around my kitchen table with many of my friends, trying to keep up with orders” says Gail. “Those early days were some of the most fun and exciting times of my life.”
Gail’s business grew into one of Mississippi’s most recognized businesses. She found that her designs were loved by native Mississippians as well as people around the world. She has designed for many celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Gene Hackman, Faith Hill, Katie Couric, Donald Trump, and Paula Dean. Additionally, her hand painted dinnerware can be seen in some of the nation’s premiere restaurants such as Table 52 in Chicago, and casinos around the country including The Beau Rivage, The Taj Mahal, and Ceasar’s Palace. She was also the Creative Director for Southern Living at Home from 2005 to 2010, and speaking to thousands of consultants and their customers across the country.
It has been more than 34 years since Gail began a business creating designs at her kitchen table. "God has blessed my career in ways I never knew to pray for and now I have the opportunity to design products not only for the table, but for the entire home. It is a dream come true!" says Gail.
